THE 9 BEST WEDDING VENUES AROUND SOUTH CAROLINA TO GET MARRIED!

There are so many great wedding venues around South Carolina. In this post we’re going to list some of our favorites.

Charleston is one of our all time favorite towns, and you’ll see soon that Charleston is on this list a lot! Charleston has some of the most beautiful plantations with gorgeous backgrounds for pictures. We also take several trips a year for engagement photo sessions on rainbow row, and it’s so beautiful! But this isn’t a Charleston post, so you’ll also see venues in Columbia, SC as well as a few right at the South/North Carolina borders!

1. Magnolia Plantation and Gardens

Magnolia Plantation and Gardens is a very well known tourist spot, actually the oldest in the Lowcountry. The property is absolutely stunning, especially when all of the flowers are in bloom. Named one of the most beautiful gardens in the world, you’ll see photographers on this property often! The magnificent over the water bridge is the perfect scenery for wedding portraits. Magnolia Plantation has several locations for your wedding, and can accommodate big or small weddings!

2. Boone Hall Plantation

And the beautiful Charleston Spanish Moss continues with another Charleston Plantation – Boone Hall Plantation. The spanish moss oak trees you see lined down the road as you drive in will take your breath away – just wait and see for yourself!

3. The Island House

The Island House is a HUGE venue with plenty of space for a outdoor party on the water! We really love this waterfront venue, from the gorgeous sunsets to the yachts coasting in the background, this venue is one of our favorites near the coast!

4. The Lace House

The Lace House is in the heart of downtown Columbia and is a beautiful location for a wedding! The historic home surrounded by lush gardens and scenic fountains provides an ideal backdrop for an elegant wedding. This location also offers getting ready suites for both the bride and groom, and like we say often, one location for your wedding day will lead to a much less stressful and much more enjoyable day!

5. Wavering Place Gardens

The Wavering Place Gardens reminds me of the old saying my grandparents used to say… “the diamond in the rough”… These gardens are near in Eastover,SC, outside of Columbia, SC. We had not heard about this venue before Kara and Hunters August 2020 wedding, but we are absolutely in LOVE! The lighting is gorgeous, and there are so many beautiful spots for photo and video! It’s one of our new favorites!

6. Point Lookout Vineyards

These 30 Mile Views at Point Lookout Vineyards in the mountains of Hendersonville, NC will leave you speechless. This is a wonderful spot for a wedding, but even if you don’t decide to have your wedding here, they have an excellent choice of wine and we highly recommend planning a weekend trip!

7. The Biltmore

The Biltmore has 10 places to get married and they are all just as you’d expect, simply stunning. This space will bring your magical vision to life. With its stunning natural beauty and long traditions of hospitality, you’re sure to have the perfect wedding day. We actually haven’t shot a wedding here, but we have shot an engagement session. If you decide to get married here and would like us to photograph and/or video your wedding day, make sure to ask the Biltmore staff about the next steps because they suggest you book their photographer! However you are able to bring your photographer/videographer!

8. Middleton Place

Middleton Place, another Charleston, SC wedding venue, certainly doesn’t lack Spanish Moss! Home to the oldest landscaped gardens in America, the property is so beautiful for a wedding.

9. Clevedale Historic Venue

Clevedale Historic Inn and Gardens is another “diamond in the rough”. Located in Spartanburg, this location is primarily known as a bed and breakfast, but they host weddings as well! This location has four locations to choose from for your ceremony location. There are plenty options to customize and make this venue become your dream wedding location!
